The Member of Parliament for Bodi Constituency and Deputy Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry,Sampson Ahi, has broken his silence on the completion of the Agenda 111 hospital project in the Bodi District.
According to the mp, the government has selected 30 Agenda 111 hospital projects across the country for completion, with the Bodi project among those selected.
Ahi said the contractor is expected to return to site soon to resume work on the project.
He explained that the decision forms part of the government’s commitment to prioritising healthcare delivery and ensuring that residents of Bodi have access to improved healthcare infrastructure.
He disclosed this when he handed over medical supplies valued at GH¢300,000 to the Bodi Health Directorate.
Background
The Agenda 111 hospital project in the Bodi District was initiated under the former administration led by former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as part of a nationwide programme to construct hospitals in districts and areas without adequate hospital facilities. Bodi was among the beneficiary districts.
However, the project was not completed before the former government left office and has subsequently remained stalled amid concerns and controversies over its financing and implementation.
The current Minister of Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has previously raised concerns about funding for the Agenda 111 projects, indicating that the government is exploring partnerships with organisations, including faith-based institutions, to support the completion of some of the projects.
The Bodi MP has therefore expressed optimism that the government’s decision to prioritise 30 Agenda 111 projects will pave the way for the completion of the Bodi hospital and improve healthcare delivery in the constituency.
