The Member of Parliament for Jomoro, Dorcas Affo-Toffey, has led the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Jomoro, Benedict Boadi, to meet the Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George, to discuss challenges affecting telecommunications infrastructure and network coverage in the municipality.
The meeting, held on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, focused on the status of network poles mounted in several communities and measures to ensure that the infrastructure translates into improved connectivity for residents.
The communities discussed include Ellenda, Nuba, Ellonyi, Twenen, Ebonloa, New Kabenlasuazo, Adusuazo, Twearkor No. 2, Jaway and Mpaesem.

Following the discussions, the Minister directed engineers from the Ministry to meet with the MCE on Wednesday, October 21, to reassess the existing network poles and determine the technical requirements needed to advance the project.
The assessment is expected to help establish the necessary technical arrangements for connecting the infrastructure to the national grid and facilitate progress towards improved telecommunications services in the beneficiary communities.
The intervention follows concerns over the status of the mounted poles and the need to ensure that the infrastructure delivers the intended benefits to residents.
In a related development, Mr George assured the MP and the MCE that arrangements were underway to extend network infrastructure to three additional communities—Nsuano, Ghana Nungua and Fawoman—before the end of November 2026.
The proposed extension follows a request by Dorcas Affo-Toffey, who also serves as Deputy Minister for Transport, as part of efforts to improve telecommunications access across the Jomoro Municipality.
Engineers are expected to visit the three communities to conduct preliminary assessments and determine the necessary coordinates ahead of the planned installation of network poles.
Improved network coverage is expected to support communication, education, business operations and access to digital services, particularly in communities where connectivity remains a challenge.
Reliable telecommunications infrastructure can also enhance access to information, support local economic activities and create better opportunities for residents to participate in the digital economy.
The MP and the MCE are expected to continue engaging the Ministry and other relevant stakeholders to ensure that the reassessment of existing infrastructure and the proposed extension to the three additional communities progress towards implementation.
The engagements form part of ongoing efforts to address telecommunications infrastructure gaps and improve network connectivity across the Jomoro Municipality.
