The Western North Regional Minister, Wilbert Petty Brentum, together with the Western North Regional Police Commander, DCOP Dr. Francis Kwame Tsidi, has inspected an abandoned police station at Kudjour in the Aowin Municipality.
The police station, which was constructed by the Aowin Municipal Assembly about three years ago, has remained unused since its completion.
Speaking during the inspection, Regional Minister Wilbert Petty Brentum said the facility, when operational, would strengthen security in the Kudjour area and its surrounding communities.
He explained that the ongoing Big Push road projects, particularly the construction of the Pekyi–Kudjour–Nyankamum road, are expected to increase traffic and economic activity in the area, making the presence of a police station essential to protect residents and travellers.
The Minister said he would work closely with the Ghana Police Service to ensure that the facility is opened and made operational as soon as possible.
The Western North Regional Police Commander, DCOP Dr. Francis Kwame Tsidi, commended the Aowin Municipal Assembly for constructing the modern police facility.
He said following the inspection, he would formally write to Police Headquarters to request that estate officers and engineers be deployed to assess the facility and determine its readiness for use.
According to DCOP Tsidi, once the necessary approval is obtained, the police administration will arrange for personnel to be posted to the station to provide security services to the people of Kudjour and surrounding communities.
He added that the operationalisation of the station would strengthen the Police Service’s ability to protect residents and maintain law and order in the area.
The inspection forms part of efforts by the regional authorities and the Ghana Police Service to improve security infrastructure and ensure that completed public facilities are put to their intended use.
