The Sefwi Asawinso Development Association (SADA) has formally petitioned the Asawinso Police Command and traditional authorities following the tragic death of an 8-year-old girl, Josephine Ayitey, whose lifeless body was discovered less than 24 hours after she was reported missing.
In the petition dated April 28, 2026, the association described the circumstances surrounding the incident as highly suspicious, raising serious concerns among residents of the community. According to SADA, the nature of the girl’s death demands a swift, thorough, and transparent investigation to establish the facts and ensure justice is served.

Speaking to legendreport , the Secretary of the Association, Prophet Wisdom Aha, expressed dissatisfaction with how similar cases have been handled in the past. He alleged that many reports made to the police often do not receive the required attention, resulting in unresolved cases. He stressed that the association will not relent until those responsible for the child’s death are identified and prosecuted.
SADA is demanding a full-scale investigation, citing provisions in Ghana’s 1992 Constitution that guarantee the right to life and protection under the law. The association has given the police a seven-day ultimatum to make significant progress, warning that failure to do so will compel them to escalate the matter to the Inspector-General of Police and other relevant authorities.

The group is also calling on traditional leaders (Nananom) to collaborate closely with security agencies to strengthen community safety. They emphasized that protecting lives must be a shared responsibility between authorities and local leadership.
To support the investigation, SADA has announced a reward of GH₵50,000 for anyone who provides credible information leading to the arrest of those responsible. The association assured potential informants that their identities would be kept confidential.
Reaffirming its commitment to justice and community safety, the Sefwi Asawinso Development Association urged residents to cooperate with authorities and remain vigilant as efforts continue to uncover the truth behind the tragic incident.
