The Ministry of Food and Agriculture, in partnership with the World Food Programme (WFP) and the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), has handed over advanced agricultural technology equipment to five Agricultural Colleges to strengthen practical training in digital agriculture.

The handover ceremony was held on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at the Kwadaso Agricultural College in Kumasi.
The beneficiary institutions are Kwadaso, Wenchi, Ejura, Damongo and Ohawu Agricultural Colleges.
The equipment includes mini drones, soil testers, moisture meters, weather stations, GPS devices, IoT sensor kits, computers, greenhouse control kits, agricultural software and simulators.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Minister for Food and Agriculture, Dr Eric Opoku, expressed appreciation to WFP and KOICA for their support.
He said the initiative represents an investment in the knowledge, skills and innovation required to prepare young people for the future of agriculture.
The programme will also provide training for instructors and tutors, while students will receive practical training in areas including precision farming, data-driven decision-making and digital agribusiness.
The intervention is expected to strengthen agricultural education and equip a new generation of agricultural professionals with the digital skills needed to contribute to a more productive, resilient and technology-driven agricultural sector.
