Former Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Forestry Commission, Martha Kwayie Manu, has officially joined the race for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Western North Regional Chairmanship.
Speaking after the party’s regional vetting held on 20th July 2026 at the NPP Regional Office in Sefwi Wiawso, Martha Kwayie Manu said her decision to contest the position is driven by the need to unite the party and restore its strength in the region.
According to her, the Western North Regional branch of the NPP has become divided into different camps, a situation she believes negatively affected the party’s performance in the 2024 general elections.
She noted that before the 2024 elections, the NPP held three parliamentary seats in the region but lost all the three seats , which they only won one seat out of the nine constituency’s . She described the outcome as disappointing and stressed that rebuilding unity is essential to the party’s future electoral success.
Martha Kwayie Manu pledged that if elected Regional Chairperson, she would unite all party members, strengthen the regional leadership, and work tirelessly to reclaim the parliamentary seats the party lost.
She also highlighted her track record as the first female parliamentary candidate for the NPP in the Juaboso Constituency. According to her, she significantly improved the party’s electoral performance in the constituency, where the NPP had previously won only two polling stations out of 132 and has improve it under her leadership as Parliamentary candidate.
She expressed confidence that, if given the mandate, she has the experience and leadership qualities needed to restructure the party and position it for victory in future elections.
