The Aowin Municipality is currently battling severe flooding following heavy rainfall across the area. Several communities, including the municipal capital, have been affected by the disaster.

Communities such as Achimfo, Sewuam, and Nyankamum are experiencing serious flooding, forcing many residents to leave their homes.

Speaking to the legendreport , the Aowin Municipal Director of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), Mr. Karim Ndego, described the situation as a major challenge, noting that many residents have been compelled to evacuate for their safety.

According to Mr. Ndego, more than 2,000 residents have been rendered homeless by the floods. He explained that the number of affected persons could increase as the rains continue and assessment teams are still counting victims.

He disclosed that NADMO has arranged temporary shelters in various affected communities to provide safe accommodation for displaced residents.

Mr. Ndego further stated that emergency response measures are being carried out to help residents in flood-prone areas return to normal life as soon as possible.

He appealed to individuals, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), and other stakeholders to support the victims with food items, clothing, and other essential supplies to ease their suffering.

The affected families urgently need support as we continue to assess the full impact of the floods, he said.
