A seasoned political figure within the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Samuel Kofi Abiw, has officially declared his intention to contest for the position of Regional Chairman in the Western North Region.

Mr. Abiw brings decades of political and administrative experience to his candidacy, having served the party in various capacities at the constituency, regional, and national levels.

His political journey dates back to 1993, when he served as Assistant Constituency Secretary for Aowin-Suaman, a role he held until 2004. He later rose to become Constituency Secretary for Suaman from 2004 to 2014, demonstrating consistency and dedication to grassroots party organization.

In electoral politics, Mr. Abiw has played key operational roles in multiple national elections. He served as Constituency Director of Operations for Suaman during the 2004 and 2008 elections, and later as Constituency Operations Director in the 2012 general elections. His experience expanded to the regional level, where he worked as Director of Operations and a member of the Regional Campaign Team during the 2020 elections. Most recently, he contributed as a Regional Campaign Team Member in the 2024 elections.

At the regional executive level, Mr. Abiw served as Assistant Regional Secretary for the Western Region from 2014 to 2019, a period marked by active party restructuring and mobilization. He also held a national role as a member of the NPP National Council between 2019 and 2022, giving him insight into the party’s broader strategic direction.
Beyond party politics, Mr. Abiw has also contributed to local governance. He served as Assembly Member for the Nana Bullu Electoral Area in Dadieso from 2002 to 2006, and later as Area Council Chairman for Dadieso in the Aowin-Suaman District Assembly from 2005 to 2009.

Announcing his bid, Mr. Abiw emphasized his commitment to unity, effective leadership, and strengthening party structures across the Western North Region. He noted that his extensive experience positions him to lead the party to greater electoral success.

His candidacy is expected to add momentum to the upcoming regional elections, as party delegates prepare to choose leaders to steer the NPP’s activities in the region ahead of future national contests.
