The Government of Ghana has donated GH¢50,000, each to the families of the three victims who lost their lives in the Sayerano police shooting incident.

The donation was announced during a visit to the community by the Minister for the Interior, Alhaji Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, and the Minister for Health and Member of Parliament for Juaboso, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, who were there to commiserate with the bereaved families and the victims who sustained gunshot wounds.

Addressing the community, Alhaji Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak said the government, through the Ministry of the Interior, was providing GH¢50,000 to support the funeral arrangements of the three deceased victims. He further announced that the two surviving victims who sustained injuries would each receive GH¢50,000 to support their medical treatment and recovery.

The Interior Minister appealed to residents to remain calm as investigations into the incident continue. He assured the community that police investigators would return to Sayerano to carry out further investigations and urged residents to cooperate fully by providing any information that could assist the investigation.

He reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring that justice is served, noting that the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) had already interdicted the eight police officers involved in the incident to allow for an independent investigation.
