Mr. Randy Ofori, Deputy Communications Officer for Akontombra and Dean of Communicators for the NDC in the Western North Region, has criticized some morning show hosts in the region, describing them as lazy.

Speaking on Krom Mu Nsem on Sefwi News TV’s online platform, Mr. Ofori said that many hosts fail to read or research properly, which prevents them from maintaining full control of their programs. According to him, this makes political communication on the radio difficult.

He explained that hosts often set discussion topics for political parties in advance. However, during panel discussions, some guests deviate from these topics, which the hosts allow. This, he said, gives opponents an opportunity to attack, and by the end of the program, the discussion often drifts far from the intended focus.

Mr. Ofori noted that this practice has affected audience engagement. He observed that many drivers no longer tune in to radio programs in the mornings, opting instead to play audio mixes in their vehicles.

He contrasted this with practices in Accra and Kumasi, where hosts strictly enforce discussion topics and do not allow guests to deviate, warning that those who fail to follow the guidelines risk being removed from the show.

The Deputy Communications Officer urged morning show hosts in the Western North Region to read, research, and prepare thoroughly to ensure full control of their programs. He also acknowledged that some hosts are performing well and maintaining high standards in their shows.
