The deputy communications officer of the NDC for the Akontombra Constituency has made wild allegations against the former Member of Parliament for Sefwi Akontombra, Mr. Alex Tetteh, claiming that he was taking Gold blads from the galamseyers.
Randy revealed that the former Member of Parliament and the former DCE, Yaw Son Amoah, introduced galamsey in Akontombra. He stated that in 2018, the former MP and DCE brought in a company called AA Mining Company to conduct deep mining at Sefwi Asasie, a suburb of Akontombra.
Randy alleged that this is where the galamsey started, and when they finished at Asasie, they moved to the Akontombra township.
He stated that the former Member of Parliament was taking gold blads ds from the galamseyers, which compelled the youth to demonstrate against him in 2024, he said.
He said that when the NDC came to power, there was galamsey in a place called Nkra, where about 8 people died as a result of the galamsey activities. He mentioned that because of this, the DCE for Akontombra, Joseph Appiah, declared that area a red zone, and since then, there have been no recorded deaths.
He stated that galamsey has moved from the water and is now doing rock mining at Asasie, which is referred to as legal mining in the area.
He spoke on Sefwinews TV, an online digital platform, with host Wacus, and the program was Krom Mu Nsem.
