The death toll from the police shooting incident at Sefwi Sayerano in the Juaboso District of the Western North Region has risen to three after one of the injured victims succumbed to injuries while receiving treatment.
The deceased was among several residents who sustained gunshot wounds during a confrontation with personnel from the Sefwi Wiawso Divisional Police Command, who had reportedly gone to the community to arrest a suspected drug peddler. Two residents died at the scene, while others were injured.
The latest development has deepened grief in the community, with residents mourning the loss of another life and renewing calls for a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

The Juaboso District Chief Executive, Alexander Adu Quist, has visited the bereaved families and injured victims to express the government’s condolences. He described the incident as unfortunate and assured residents that the government remains committed to ensuring justice is served.
Adu Quist urged the families to remain calm and allow the ongoing investigations to take their course, while praying for the speedy recovery of those still receiving treatment.
Moreover, the district chief executive called for calm in the community so that the police could conduct the necessary investigations.
