The Minister for Food and Agriculture, Dr. Eric Opoku, has announced the successful passing out of 506 Feed Ghana Brigadiers, describing them as a new frontline force dedicated to transforming Ghana’s agricultural sector.

The Brigadiers, who are graduates with advanced qualifications in agriculture, underwent specialized training at the Ghana Police Training School. Beyond their academic knowledge, the training focused on discipline, resilience, teamwork, respect for authority, and a strong sense of national service.

According to Dr. Opoku, the objective was to prepare the officers with the discipline and leadership skills required to effectively implement the government’s Feed Ghana Programme across the country.

As District Feed Ghana Coordinators, the Brigadiers will play a key role in translating national agricultural policies into practical action at the district level. Their responsibilities include coordinating agricultural activities, mobilizing stakeholders, monitoring programme implementation, promoting accountability, and working directly with farmers to improve productivity.

The Minister stated that the initiative is a major step toward achieving food security, creating employment opportunities, strengthening agribusiness, reducing dependence on food imports, and building a self-sufficient Ghana.

Dr. Opoku expressed confidence that the deployment of the Brigadiers will improve efficiency and accountability in the agricultural sector, leading to increased domestic food production and supporting the government’s Agriculture for Economic Transformation Agenda.
He urged the newly trained officers to serve with integrity, dedication, and professionalism as they take up their responsibilities across the country.

“Equipped with discipline and dedication, you are the frontline force building a food-secure Ghana. Go out, serve with integrity, and transform agriculture,” Dr. Opoku charged the Brigadiers.
