The Western North Journalists Association (WNJA) has called for a thorough, transparent, and impartial investigation into the police shooting incident at Seyerano in the Juaboso District of the Western North Region, which claimed the lives of two residents.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, and signed by the Association’s Acting President, Pollo Esposito Edusei, the WNJA expressed its deepest condolences to the bereaved families and extended heartfelt sympathies to those injured during the incident, wishing them a speedy recovery.
The Association commended the Western North Regional Police Command for the swift interdiction of the eight police officers allegedly involved in the incident, describing the move as a demonstration of commitment to accountability and due process while investigations continue.
The WNJA urged the police to ensure that the investigation is conducted fairly and transparently to establish the full facts and ensure justice is served in accordance with the laws of Ghana.
The Association also appealed to residents of Seyerano and the general public to remain calm, cooperate with investigators, and avoid actions that could undermine peace and public order.

Reaffirming its commitment to responsible journalism, the WNJA said it will continue to monitor developments while promoting accurate, balanced, and ethical reporting of the incident.
