A supporter of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Eric Kwesi Taylor, has called for unity within the party while reaffirming his support for Kennedy Ohene Agyapong ahead of the party’s 2026 presidential primaries.
In a public statement, Mr. Taylor described Kennedy Agyapong as both a business mentor and a source of inspiration, citing his entrepreneurial achievements, political courage, and commitment to empowering young people through job creation and entrepreneurship. He said these qualities have shaped his decision to support the former presidential aspirant.
Mr. Taylor, however, noted that his admiration does not mean he agrees with every action or statement made by Kennedy Agyapong. He emphasized that, like every leader, the politician has strengths and weaknesses, adding that he chooses to focus on the qualities that promote hope, hard work, and national development.
He also appealed to NPP youth supporters to refrain from attacking Kennedy Agyapong or any senior party member over differences of opinion.
According to him, the party has experienced leaders, former presidential aspirants, national executives, and elders who are capable of addressing internal disagreements in a constructive manner. He further urged senior party members to discourage personal attacks and insults from communicators, supporters, and social media personalities, stressing that political debates should be conducted with civility and mutual respect.
Looking ahead to the 2028 general elections, Mr. Taylor argued that electoral success would depend not only on campaign messages but also on the conduct and service of party members. He encouraged party executives at all levels to strengthen community engagement through job creation initiatives, women’s empowerment programmes, youth development projects, and volunteerism to build public confidence.
Concluding his statement, Mr. Taylor expressed the view that the NPP would benefit from the continued active involvement of Kennedy Agyapong and the broad support base he commands both within and outside the party. He appealed to the former presidential aspirant to remain focused on the party’s broader interests, put past grievances behind him, and continue contributing to its growth and Ghana’s national development.

He ended by offering prayers for the NPP, Ghana, and Kennedy Agyapong, expressing hope that time would continue to reveal the true value of leadership and service.
