The Western North Regional Minister, Wilbert Petty Brentum, has expressed his dissatisfaction with the slow pace of work by Top International Engineering Company Limited on the Big Push road project from Enchi to Elubo.
According to the Minister, the contractor’s performance has fallen below expectations and the progress made on the project is unsatisfactory.
He revealed that he recently inspected the road project together with the Minister for Roads and Highways, Kwame Governs Agbodza, and said the Roads Minister was equally disappointed with the pace of work.
Mr. Brentum noted that by this stage of the project, much more work should have been completed. However, he said the contractor is underperforming despite the importance of the road.
The Regional Minister explained that the contractor had raised a number of concerns. While some of the issues are genuine, he said others are not justified. He has therefore directed engineers from the Ghana Highways Authority to carefully assess the contractor’s concerns. Any genuine issues identified will be forwarded to the Minister for Roads and Highways for consideration and possible action.
The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Aowin, Stephen Morcher, also expressed disappointment with the contractor’s performance. He said residents and commuters who use the Enchi–Elubo road continue to face serious difficulties due to the slow progress of work.
Mr. Morcher stated that he is under constant pressure from residents and road users, who expect the project to be completed as soon as possible. He therefore urged the contractor to speed up work to ensure the timely completion of the road project.
