Nuba, Jomoro Municipality, Western Region Residents of Nuba in the Jomoro Municipality of the Western Region have benefited from an extended free National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) registration and renewal exercise.
The exercise, organised by the Assembly Member for the Nuba Electoral Area, Emmanuel Kwasie Amihere, popularly known as Ghanaman, with support from the Member of Parliament for Jomoro, Dorcas Affo-Toffey, was aimed at helping more residents gain access to healthcare through the NHIS.
The initiative, which was initially scheduled for one day, was extended to two days during its second phase to enable more residents to register for the first time, renew their memberships and replace lost or damaged NHIS cards.
During the first phase, 75 people registered for the NHIS for the first time, 80 renewed their memberships, and 15 replaced their cards, bringing the total number of beneficiaries to 170.
In the second phase, 133 residents registered for the first time, 70 renewed their memberships, while 50 others replaced their NHIS cards.
Mr. Emmanuel Kwasie Amihere expressed appreciation to the Member of Parliament for Jomoro and Deputy Minister of Transport, Dorcas Affo-Toffey, as well as the Municipal Chief Executive, Benedict Boadi, for their continued support for residents of Nuba.
According to him, the support from the two leaders contributed to the extension of the exercise, providing an opportunity for more residents to benefit.
The Assembly Member said the initiative had brought relief to residents, particularly those who might otherwise have faced difficulties accessing NHIS registration and renewal services.
He commended Hon. Dorcas Affo-Toffey and Hon. Benedict Boadi for their commitment to the welfare of the people of Nuba and expressed hope that similar interventions would continue to support residents in the community.
He also urged beneficiaries to make good use of their NHIS membership by seeking timely healthcare whenever necessary.
Mr. Amihere reiterated his commitment to working with relevant stakeholders to bring more development-oriented initiatives to the Nuba Electoral Area.
