The Bodi Circuit Court, presided over by His Honour James Mensah Donkor, has granted bail to Vivian Anto, a woman accused of cutting off her daughter’s toe at Sefwi Praso in the Western North Region.
Vivian Anto was granted bail in the sum of GHS 100,000 with two sureties.
The decision follows a plea by her lawyer, Victor Afriyie Andoh, who informed the court that his client had been referred to the Ankaful Psychiatric Hospital for medical evaluation. However, a required CT scan was not conducted at the facility, leading to her referral to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital for further examination.

Counsel pleaded with the court to grant bail so that the family could take responsibility for her medical care, including completing the CT scan and submitting the results to the psychiatric hospital for proper evaluation while the case remains pending.

After considering the submission, the court granted bail and ordered the family to cooperate fully in ensuring that the medical examination is completed and the results presented on the next adjourned date.

The case has been adjourned to May 26, 2026, when the accused is expected to reappear before the court.
