Vivian Anto, a woman accused of cutting off her daughter’s toe, was remanded into police custody on April 9, 2026. The court had previously ordered that she be taken to a mental health unit for an evaluation due to concerns about her health.
On April 21, 2026, Vivian Anto appeared in court again. His Honour James Mensah Donkor, presiding over the Bodi Circuit Court, ordered that she be remanded into police custody for another day. She is scheduled to reappear in court on April 22, 2026.

The hearing was delayed as Vivian Anto’s lawyer was absent. The lawyer had informed the court in writing that he would be unable to attend but would appear at the next session. As a result, the court decided to extend her remand.
Speaking to the prosecutor, Superintendent Isaac Ostin confirmed that the police had followed the court’s previous orders, including the mental health checkup for Vivian Anto. However, the results of the health evaluation have not yet been disclosed.
