The Ministry of Health has dismissed as false and misleading a social media publication attributed to SABC News claiming that Ghana’s Ebola cases had risen to 2,300 with 930 deaths.
According to the Ministry, Ghana has not recorded any case of Ebola Virus Disease (EVD), stressing that the figures being circulated are entirely false and should be disregarded.
The Ministry explained that the recent visit by the Minister for Health, Hon. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, to Ghana’s points of entry, laboratories, and treatment facilities formed part of routine preparedness measures aimed at strengthening the country’s capacity to prevent and respond to any potential public health emergency.
It emphasized that these proactive activities do not indicate an Ebola outbreak in Ghana.
The Ministry has therefore urged Ghanaians and the international community to remain calm and rely only on official information from the Ministry of Health and the Ghana Health Service. It also cautioned the public against sharing unverified reports that could create unnecessary fear and panic.
