The Head of the Maternity Unit at Juaboso Government Hospital, Madam Francisca Aidoo, has revealed that the hospital’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) has played a significant role in saving the lives of many preterm babies and critically ill newborns within the district and beyond.
Speaking to Legendreport.com, Madam Aidoo stated that the facility continues to provide specialized care for premature babies, greatly improving their chances of survival and healthy development.

According to her, before the establishment of the NICU, many critical newborn cases had to be referred to hospitals in other districts for treatment. However, the availability of the unit at Juaboso Government Hospital has enabled healthcare professionals to manage and save many of these babies locally.
She noted that the NICU serves not only residents of Juaboso but also patients from neighboring districts, including Bodi, Aowin, and Suaman, who rely on the facility for specialized neonatal care.
Madam Aidoo made these remarks following the successful delivery of quadruplets at the hospital, with the newborn babies being admitted to the NICU for specialized care and monitoring.
She further disclosed that the NICU facility was provided through the efforts of the Minister for Health and Member of Parliament for Juaboso, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh. According to her, the donation of five NICU machines to Juaboso Government Hospital has greatly enhanced the hospital’s capacity to care for preterm babies and has contributed significantly to saving many newborn lives.
Madam Aidoo commended the support received for the facility and emphasized the importance of continued investment in neonatal healthcare to reduce infant mortality and improve healthcare outcomes in the district.
