The 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), which was conducted across the country, ended last week.
Legendreport visited the Ghana Education Service office in Juaboso to get an overview of the examination in the district. The Public Relations Officer for the Ghana Education Service, Mr. Anthony Gyabeng, revealed that a total of 1,777 candidates registered for the examination across the district in 2026. Out of this number, 880 were males and 897 were females.
He stated that out of the 1,777 registered candidates, 31 students were absent and did not show up to write the examination. Among the absentees, 22 were male students while 9 were female students.
He also disclosed that there were four pregnant candidates from about four circuits and one lactating mother who sat for the examination.
According to him, the district had a successful examination period due to the campaign carried out against examination malpractice.
He added that, although there were a few minor challenges, the examination was generally peaceful and successful.
