The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has opened nominations for its constituency executive elections across the country, with party members beginning preparations to contest various positions.
In the Bia East Constituency of the Western North Region, some branch executives have picked nomination forms for the incumbent Constituency Chairman, Mausili Siaka, and the incumbent Constituency Secretary, Joseph Apraku, to retain their positions.
The branch executives who endorsed the two executives said their decision was based on what they described as the leadership’s performance and fulfilment of promises made to the party.
According to them, Chairman Mausili Siaka promised to help increase the NDC’s votes in the 2024 general elections, a target they said was achieved.
They also stated that the chairman promised to establish party offices in every zone within the constituency and has so far completed about 90 percent of the project.
The branch executives said the chairman and his secretary have demonstrated unity in their leadership and believe the two deserve another opportunity to serve the constituency.
Speaking at the event, Chairman Mausili Siaka said increasing the NDC’s votes in the constituency was one of the promises he made to the party.
He said he worked together with the constituency executives and branch members to achieve the objective during the 2024 elections.
Chairman Siaka also said his administration had made significant progress towards establishing party offices across the various zones, indicating that about 90 percent of the work had been completed.
He reaffirmed his commitment to serving the NDC and strengthening the party’s structures in the constituency.
The Constituency Secretary, Joseph Apraku, who is seeking a second term, said retaining the Bia East parliamentary seat for the NDC was part of the leadership’s vision.
He said the party was able to increase its votes in the 2024 general elections compared with previous figures.
Mr. Apraku appealed to delegates to give the current leadership another opportunity to continue implementing its vision for the party.
