The aspiring Chairman of the Suaman Constituency branch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Evans Ganyo, has attributed the party’s loss of the Suaman parliamentary seat to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2024 elections to internal division within the party.
According to him, disagreements among some party executives contributed significantly to the defeat of the NDC’s parliamentary candidate.
Mr. Ganyo alleged that the conduct of some party executives created divisions within the party, leading some members to vote against the then-incumbent NDC Member of Parliament.
He believes the party can reclaim the parliamentary seat in the 2028 elections if unity is restored.
We lost our seat to the NPP because of division. If I am elected as constituency chairman, I will work to unite the party and bring everyone together so that we can reclaim the seat in 2028, he said.
Mr. Ganyo also highlighted his support for the NDC and its members at the grassroots level.
He said he has supported the party in various ways, including providing assistance to party members and contributing to activities aimed at strengthening the party in the constituency.
Among his contributions, he mentioned the provision of jerseys to the only Senior High School in the Suaman Constituency.
Some supporters and branch executives who have declared their support for Mr. Ganyo’s bid believe he has the capacity to unite the party and lead the constituency as chairman.
They described him as someone who has demonstrated commitment and loyalty to the NDC and maintained continuous engagement with party members at the grassroots.
According to them, his support for the grassroots and his willingness to assist party members make him a strong candidate for the constituency chairmanship position.
