The Minister for Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has launched the district implementation of the Government of Ghana’s Free Primary Healthcare Policy at Sefwi Mafi in the Juaboso District of the Western North Region.
The Free Primary Healthcare Policy is a government initiative aimed at improving equitable access to quality healthcare for every Ghanaian. The policy seeks to bring healthcare services closer to communities by providing free primary healthcare, including home-based services.

Earlier, the Health Minister also launched the regional implementation of the policy in Sefwi Bodi for the Western North Region.
On 4th July 2026, Mr. Akandoh, who is also the Member of Parliament for Juaboso, visited his constituency to officially launch the district implementation of the government’s flagship Free Primary Healthcare Policy.
Speaking at the event, the Minister said the policy would promote the early detection and prevention of diseases. He explained that trained health workers would regularly visit homes to provide free primary healthcare services, ensuring that people can access healthcare without having to travel long distances to health facilities.
The Juaboso District Director of Health Services, Dr. Deborah Mensah, said the government has provided the necessary equipment to support the successful implementation of the programme.

She noted that free primary healthcare services would be available at Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compounds and health centres across the district at no cost. In addition, health workers would conduct home visits to provide healthcare services directly to residents, making healthcare more accessible to everyone.
