The Member of Parliament for Bia West, Mustapha Tanko Amadu, has broken his silence on the arrest of TikToker Emmanuel Amoako, popularly known as “In Focus,” in the Bia West District.

Legendreport earlier reported that Emmanuel Amoako had been arrested by the Ghana Police Service in connection with a video he published concerning network masts at Kwame Tawiah Krom (KTK).

The arrest was reportedly linked to allegations involving the Bia West District Chief Executive, Matthew Annor, and the Member of Parliament, Mustapha Tanko Amadu, over a promise to provide a community network mast and an alleged change in the proposed location.

Legendreport attempted to reach him and the DCE on the morning of August 20, 2026, for clarification on the matter, but the attempts were unsuccessful.

later in the evening, the MP returned the call to the Managing Director of Legendreport, Emmanuel Sowah, to find out why the platform had contacted him.

However, the Bia West MP has denied having any involvement in the arrest.

During the conversation, Sowah, asked the MP to clarify what he knew about Emmanuel Amoako’s arrest and whether he had reported the TikToker to the police.

The MP categorically stated that he had not made any complaint to the police requesting the arrest of Emmanuel Amoako or anyone else in the district.

He explained that at about 4:00 p.m., someone sent him an audio recording from Agooha FM in which it was alleged that he had ordered the arrest of the TikToker for allegedly insulting him on social media.

According to the MP, he subsequently contacted the police to verify the information, and the police confirmed to him that Emmanuel Amoako had been arrested.

Mustapha Tanko Amadu said the police informed him that the arrest was related to alleged cybercrime offences, including misinformation, misleading information and other offences under Ghana’s cybercrime laws.

The MP acknowledged that Emmanuel Amoako had made several statements about him that he considered untrue, but maintained that he had never attempted to have him arrested.

If I want to hold him accountable, I will rather sue him for defamation than arrange for his arrest, the MP said during the conversation with Legendreport.

He therefore maintained that he had no hand in Emmanuel Amoako’s arrest and urged media organisations and journalists to verify information with the relevant parties before publishing reports, particularly on sensitive matters involving arrests and allegations.

The MP’s comments come amid public discussion over the circumstances surrounding the arrest of the TikToker and the allegations concerning the network mast project at KTK.

Legendreport will continue to follow the matter and provide updates as more information becomes available from the police and other relevant authorities.
