The Minister for Roads and Highways, Kwame Governs Agbodza, has disclosed that about 5,000 contractors have registered with the Ministry to participate in the government’s “Big Push” road infrastructure initiative.

He made this known on April 27, 2026, during a working visit to the Western North Region to inspect ongoing and planned road projects under the initiative.
According to the Minister, the large number of registered contractors demonstrates strong interest in supporting the government’s effort to improve road infrastructure across the country. He emphasized that contractors awarded projects must deliver efficiently or risk termination.

If you are awarded a contract, you must step up and execute the work. Otherwise, you will be asked to exit to make way for capable contractors,” he cautioned.
The Minister made these remarks during an inspection of the Bediako Camp 15 Adabokrom road project in the Bia East area. He acknowledged the poor state of roads in the region and reiterated the government’s commitment to improving them under the leadership of President John Dramani Mahama.

The Western North Regional Minister also commended the President and the Roads Minister for initiating key road projects in the region. He noted that five major projects have been earmarked for construction, including:
Bediako Junction to Camp 15 to Adabokrom Road
Adwofua to Oseikojokrom (16–41 km, Lot)
Enchi to Kwadjouru (0.00–30.00 km, Lot 1)
Enchi to Pekyi via Kwadjouru (30.00–62.00 km, Lot 2)
Akontombra to Dadieso (4.0–26.3 km)
He further assured residents that the regional office of the Roads and Highways Authority will closely monitor contractors to ensure quality work and timely completion.
