The Minister for Roads and Highways, Kwame Governs Agbodza, has urged the contractor working on the Adwofua–Oseikojokrom road to accelerate progress.
According to a briefing from the Regional Department of Roads and Highways, the contractor has been on site for about five months. Out of the expected 20 percent progress within this period, only 15 percent of the work has been completed.
Based on this update, the Minister expressed dissatisfaction with the pace of work and directed the contractor to speed up execution to meet project timelines.
The contract awarded to Cymains Ghana Limited, which the Ministry describes as a reputable firm with a strong track record in road construction. The Minister noted that the government, under the Big Push initiative, has confidence in capable Ghanaian contractors such as Cymains and expects them to deliver.
He further instructed the company to make significant progress within the next two months to catch up with the project schedule.
Some residents in the area also raised concerns about the slow pace of work, urging the Minister to intervene. They suggested that if there are financial constraints affecting the project, the necessary support should be provided to enable faster completion.
Meanwhile, the Western North Regional Minister, Wilbert Petty Brentum, emphasized the need for the contractor to work closely with the Regional Coordinating Council. He explained that the Council serves as an internal supervisory body and can provide the needed coordination to ensure smooth and timely execution of the project.
