Half of Juaboso township has been plunged into darkness for about two months, prompting residents to call on authorities to urgently fix the problem.

Residents say the power outage began after heavy rains and thunderstorms damaged one of the main transformers supplying electricity to the area.

Since the transformer broke down, affected residents have been living without electricity, creating serious challenges for households and businesses.

Many residents say their livelihoods are suffering, as they can no longer operate their businesses effectively without power.
Pure water sellers, for instance, complain that they depend on electricity to run their freezers and keep their products in good condition, but are now forced to stay home.

Another resident who operates a printing press said he is losing customers because he is unable to meet their demands due to the lack of electricity.

Residents are therefore appealing to the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) and other relevant authorities to act quickly, as their businesses continue to collapse.

The District Chief Executive (DCE) has assured residents that he is working closely with ECG to secure a replacement transformer, adding that although the transformer has not yet been obtained, efforts are ongoing and residents should remain patient.
