The Juaboso District Assembly, led by District Chief Executive Alexander Adu Quist, has relocated traders from the old market to pave the way for the construction of a 24-hour market.
The move forms part of a government initiative to construct ultra-modern markets across all Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs) nationwide under the 24-hour economy policy.

In Juaboso, the new market will be built at the site of the existing market, making it necessary for traders to be temporarily moved to allow construction work to begin.
The Assembly has therefore relocated the traders to the Old Town Park, where a temporary trading space has been prepared for them.
Speaking on the development, DCE Alexander Adu Quist confirmed that the site has already been handed over to the contractor, who is expected to commence work soon.

“The area was already being used as a market, so we had to relocate the traders before construction could begin. We have prepared a temporary place for them to continue their businesses, and it is completely free. The Assembly is not charging any fees,” he stated.
He further assured that the contractor is expected to move to the site by next week.

Some traders who spoke to legendreport.com commended the Assembly for making alternative arrangements for them. Although they noted that the new location is not as spacious as the old market, they expressed readiness to manage the situation.
They also appealed to the contractor to complete the project on time so they can return to a more modern and improved market facility.
This marks the first time the traders are operating from the new temporary location.
