The Member of Parliament for the Sefwi Wiawso Constituency, Kofi Bentil Afful, has expressed pride and happiness that Ghana’s Health Minister, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, hails from Sefwi land in the Western North Region.
Speaking to constituents, the MP said he was delighted to have a son of Sefwi serving as the nation’s Health Minister.
“I am very proud that we have a Health Minister from Sefwi land. It is a great honour for our people and our region,” he stated.
According to him, the appointment of Mr. Akandoh presents an opportunity to lobby for more healthcare infrastructure and services for the Western North Region.
The MP also addressed ongoing discussions and rumors regarding the location of the proposed regional hospital. He urged residents to remain calm and avoid putting unnecessary pressure on stakeholders involved in the decision-making process.
He explained that Members of Parliament in the region have not yet reached a final decision on where the regional hospital will be constructed. What is most important is for the regional hospital to be built in the Western North Region. We should not allow debates over its location to create division or place pressure on the Health Minister,” he said.

He emphasized that excessive pressure and speculation regarding the siting of the hospital could affect ongoing consultations and planning processes.
