The Sefwi Wiawso Traditional Council, led by the Acting Paramount Chief, Nana Ofori Ahenkah II, has paid a courtesy visit to the Western North Regional Minister to clarify issues surrounding the proposed location for the establishment of the regional hospital in the region.
The visit follows reports that some pressure groups are planning to embark on a demonstration over claims that the proposed location for the regional hospital is not satisfactory to them.

Speaking during the meeting, Nana Ofori Ahenkah II stated that the Traditional Council has no involvement in any planned demonstration and is unaware of such actions.
According to him, the Traditional Council has not engaged key stakeholders, including the Minister of Health and the Western North Regional Minister, regarding the proposed project, and no decision has been made on the location of the hospital.

He explained that the Omanhene of the Sefwi Wiawso Traditional Area only made land available for consideration, while other locations have also been proposed for the project. He stressed that no official decision has been taken yet and therefore questioned why some groups are planning to demonstrate over an issue that is yet to be concluded.
The Western North Regional Minister, Wilbert Petty Brentum, commended the Traditional Council for the visit and for helping to clarify the issue.

He reiterated that no final decision has been made regarding the location of the regional hospital and expressed surprise over the planned demonstration.
The Minister noted that although people have the constitutional right to demonstrate, it would not be appropriate to protest against a decision that has not yet been made.
He further stated that if any group had concerns or lacked understanding about the process, they could have engaged his office for clarification instead of resorting to demonstrations.
