The Western North Development Association (WENDA) has donated 500 mathematical sets and pens to students preparing to sit for the upcoming Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in the Western North Region.

The donation exercise was led by the President of the association, Maxwell Baidoo, and took place in the Sefwi Wiawso Municipality and Aowin Municipality. The gesture forms part of the association’s educational support and career guidance programme aimed at shaping the future of students in the region.
The beneficiary schools in the Aowin Municipality include Roman Catholic School, Comey Memorial School, and Methodist School. In the Sefwi Wiawso Municipality, the schools that benefited are Okumdom JHS, Presby JHS, Anglican JHS, Jak Ahwoi Memorial JHS, and Wiawso M/A JHS.

Speaking during the presentation, Maxwell Baidoo explained that many students are preparing to write their first major examination in life and therefore need motivation and support from organizations and individuals. He noted that the association considered the donation of examination materials as one of the best ways to encourage the candidates ahead of the BECE.

He further stated that some students may be facing financial challenges, which could affect their preparation and performance during the examination. According to him, this informed the association’s decision to donate the mathematical sets and pens to support the students academically.
Mr. Baidoo also advised the students to stay away from examination malpractice, stressing that any involvement in cheating could lead to the cancellation of their papers and negatively affect their future. He encouraged them to study hard and remain disciplined throughout the examination period.

The President was accompanied by some executives of the association, including Joyce Kwateng, Joyce Armah, Emmanuella Aidoo, Emmanuella Owusu, Asare Kesse, Desmond Donkor, Emmanuel Adjei, Kamara, and Sanford.
