The Omanhene of the Aowin Traditional Council, Beyeeman Tano Kwaw Benbuin III, Esq. has assured his people that his decision to study law was not intended to intimidate them but to help him and his traditional elders administer justice fairly.

He explained that his legal education was aimed at deepening his understanding of Ghana’s Constitution and the laws that should guide traditional leadership in resolving disputes and addressing matters brought before the traditional council.

According to him, although the Aowin Traditional Area has its own traditions and customs, these must be exercised in accordance with the Constitution of Ghana, which is the supreme law of the land.

“I did not go to law school to come and intimidate you,” he said.

Beyeeman Tano Kwaw Benbuin III, Esq., further stressed that he was conscious of his responsibility as a traditional ruler and would one day account to the Supreme Being for his leadership and decisions.

He said his ambition was to rule with fairness, justice and integrity, ensuring that his people received fair treatment whenever disputes were brought before the traditional council.

The Omanhene made these remarks at the Roman Catholic Church in Enchi, where he attended a thanksgiving service to express gratitude to God for His guidance and mercy throughout his journey through law school.

His remarks come after he was called to the Ghana Bar, qualifying him to practise as a barrister and solicitor of the Supreme Court of Ghana.
